Ever faced that feeling when you’re doing everything right to lose weight, yet it’s just not dropping?
Incredibly frustrating, isn’t it!
As someone who’s ran treadmill rubber bare, I know this madhouse too well.
But let me get straight to the point… exercise alone is NOT the answer.
Last Saturday morning, I found myself at the park with my kids.
While they were busy playing Tarzan, I noticed some chaps I knew jogging around the park periphery.
One of them, Archie, was noticeably lagging behind.
Later, we were both queuing at the garden café, and he admitted, “I’m exhausted, mate. I’m literally running five miles a day, but I still can’t lose this gut.”
There I was, nodding sympathetically as he spoke, used to the all-too-familiar complaint.
The Primal Lifestyle Approach
As men over 40, we tend to pour ourselves into our careers and family life, and then try to squeeze in exercise, hoping to see results.
Yet, despite the honourable hours at the gym, or spent huffing-and-puffing on cardio machines, the extra pounds cling on, and frustration sets in.
On my walk home, Mike’s words played in my mind.
If only I could implant my wisdom on how to drop fat easily and keep it off.
A way that doesn’t just focus on relentless exercise but places more emphasis on metabolic health – harnessed by WHAT, WHEN, and HOW MUCH we choose to eat.
Refine this and you’ll be firing up your fat-burning machinery, so it actually works for you!
This brought me back to the core principles of the Primal Lifestyle approach and how it transformed my own life.
The Common Struggle
Do you find yourself constantly tired? Tank emptied by the reality of your work demands…
Then when you arrive home it’s tough just to be present for your loved ones…
Let alone stand up as the man and role-model, that you aspire to be.
It’s easy for lifestyle choices to become loose, when dealing with midlife reality.
Late-night work sessions and stress eating begins to take it’s toll…
Sure, you want to drop the extra pounds, and for the most part you have best intentions, but nothing seems to work long-term.
Well, I’ve got good news friend…
You can ditch this scenario easier that you might think.
Imagine waking up every day feeling energised and ready to take on the world.
Picture yourself playing with your kids without getting winded, being present and engaged with your family, and still excelling at work.
Your clothes fit better, you feel confident in your skin, and your overall health is at its peak.
This isn’t just a dream—it’s a realistic outcome with the right approach.
So, what’s the solution?
It’s a combo move rooted in the Primal Lifestyle Blueprint.
Nutrition and exercise go hand in hand, supported by adequate rest and stress management.
4 Key Tips For Sustainable Fat Loss
1) Prioritise Whole, Natural Foods with a Lower Daily Carb Intake.
Focus on a diet rich in non-starchy vegetables and high-quality animal proteins. Eat healthy fats like avocado, coconut, nuts and seeds, though be mindful of servings. Avoid processed foods and sugars that will sabotage your efforts.
Bonus tip: Consider eliminating grains and industrial seed/veg oils for a few weeks as an experiment,
2) Functional Fitness and Frequent Low-Intensity Movement
Engage in activity that mimic the daily physical exertion of our ancestors. Walking is the quintessential body movement. Play with your kids, lift heavy things sometimes (resistance training), and perform occasional short bursts of high-intensity.. like running away from a hungry Saber-tooth tiger!
Example: Aim for at least 90 minutes of brisk walking daily and add two-to-three days of weight training per week.
3) Get Adequate Sleep.
We hear about it all the time… Though are you giving yourself the best chance of recharging? Aim for 7-8 hours of quality sleep per night. Create a relaxing bedtime routine and ensure your sleep environment is conducive to rest.
Bonus tip: Avoid screens at least an hour before bedtime and consider a warm bath or reading a book to unwind.
4) Manage Stress.
Introduce stress-reducing practices such as meditation, deep breathing, and spending time in nature. Be open-minded about these practices – they promote hormonal optimisation, better moods, and laser focus.
Bonus tip: Start with 5 minutes of daily meditation and gradually increase the duration as you become more comfortable.
So friend, remember, if dropping fat is your main goal, then training your body to become metabolically healthy through lifestyle could be the game-changer you’ve been looking for.
I’d go as far as saying the passive income of weight control!
